School Interior Design Brief

Following our work at Haringey Sixth Form College’s “Innovation Centre”, the college contacted us to refurbish a further two classrooms in its maths department. After years of use, the classrooms needed a new design and refurbishment that was in-keeping with the Innovation Centre’s modern aesthetic. Furthermore, the college wanted the classrooms to have a “grown up” look for the students and a design scheme that reflected its orange and grey colours.

Through working with Rap Interiors’ experienced team, Haringey Sixth Form College was able to achieve its school design and refurbishment goals within the strict half-term timescale. The dedication, efficiency and expertise displayed by Rap Interiors also ensured the project was completed on budget and with minimal disruption to the college.

New School Space Design

As Haringey Sixth Form College wanted to accommodate more children in the classrooms, the Rap Interiors design team used their school space planning expertise to create a new layout. This entailed changing the typical desks rows into a group-friendly configuration with shared workstations. With the changes in place, the college can now house up to 30 students in the maths classrooms – six more than before.

Noise Reducing Acoustics

After the new classroom configuration was agreed, the design team suggested introducing more features with acoustic properties to reduce the noise reverberation made by extra students. These came in the form of decorative wall panels and suspended “seagull” winged panels, the latter of which were used in the Innovation Centre. In addition to the acoustics, we added geometric pin boards to the acoustic wall display for convenience.
